GranCa Live Fest

Transforming Live Performance into Digital Spectacle

Estadio de Gran Canaria, Las Palmas, Spain

The Event

Held at the Estadio de Gran Canaria in Las Palmas, Gran Ca Live Fest 2022 signalled the launch of a new large-format festival for the Canary Islands. The event, welcomed by approximately 30,000 attendees in its debut edition.

From the outset, the production team conveyed their ambition clearly:

"We don't just want a stage—we want the stage to feel alive," said the Festival Creative Director during their first briefing.

Our project lead met with the festival organisers in April 2021 to explore how a cutting-edge LED system could support that ambition. Over that meeting, the conversation evolved into a collaborative workshop:

The client emphasised visual versatility—"We want to shift between genres, moods, atmospheres without delay." They also stressed broadcast readiness—each act would be live-streamed, so the screen had to perform flawlessly with cameras. Finally, speed of re-configuration was key—transitions between performances needed to avoid downtime.

Solution & Execution

To deliver on these objectives, we deployed our premium LED solution from the Pilot Series—chosen for its high pixel density, exceptional colour fidelity and rapid-deploy architecture. Highlights of the installation include:

Main LED Wall

A main LED wall of approximately 220 m², using Pilot Series panels configured for high-resolution close-view and wide-audience clarity.

Modular Rigging

Modular rigging and magnetic alignment mechanisms to enable fast panel swap-outs and stage re-layout during the festival run.

IP-based Signal Distribution

IP-based signal distribution with full redundancy, capable of supporting real-time content updates and broadcast-grade refresh rates.

During the installation phase in early July 2022, one of our field engineers paused mid-setup:

"When the crew saw the Pilot wall fade from one artist's graphic set to the next in under 45 seconds, they high-fived—it was clear we'd hit their speed target."

Creative Integration & Performance

Because every act had a distinct visual identity—from Latin-urban to pop-rock—the system became a dynamic storytelling layer rather than a static backdrop. Our content team worked with the festival's art-director to integrate:

  • Real-time social-media feeds and sponsor overlays triggered live by the stage manager.
  • Artist introductions and motion-graphic transitions tied to beat and lighting cues.
  • On-stage floor LED modules that extended the visual canvas out into the audience, increasing engagement.

Between acts, the Pilot Series wall provided a seamless canvas: no visible seams, no flicker, and ready for camera capture straight away—satisfying broadcast demands from the first rehearsal.

Impact & Metrics

Thanks to the solution, GranCa Live Fest 2022 achieved:

30,000+
attendees across two nights
<60s
seamless scene changes
100%
broadcast-ready performance

Seamless scene changes averaging under 60 seconds, reducing audience downtime and maintaining energy.

A broadcast-clean LED surface that passed multiple camera-tests with zero complaints from live-streaming partners.

Enhanced brand positioning: the festival was featured widely as "the new large-scale live event in the Canary Islands" in Spanish and international press.

Client Feedback

The Pilot wall became part of our performance—not just behind it. Artists referenced it, our lighting team referenced it, and the audience felt it. That kind of integration rarely happens.

— Production Director, GranCa Live Fest

Legacy and Future Growth

GranCa Live Fest 2022 established a new benchmark for live-event visual execution in the region. With the Pilot Series now proven in the field, the festival organiser is equipped to scale for future editions—longer line-ups, larger audiences, deeper digital interactivity—all while keeping the installation agile and broadcast-ready.
